What’s your role at White Marble?

I’m an Associate Director at White Marble, sitting at the intersection of brand, sustainability and strategic work. Through stakeholder interviews (where I bring my journalistic skills to bear), assessment of the wider peer group or industry and identification of the ‘secret sauce’ that underpins the success of a business, I help clients articulate their core brand values and attributes, dig into the viability of their sustainability propositions and provide frameworks for marketing best practice. I am also part of our sustainability team.

What prior experience do you bring?

I started out as a journalist working for Money Observer and Moneywise (R.I.P.) in the midst of the global financial crisis. In 2014, after five years reporting on the industry, I joined BNY Mellon Investment Management as a founding member of its award-winning editorial team. I then moved to New York to establish and run its North American content marketing team. When I returned to the UK in 2020, in search of a good cuppa and a quality bar of chocolate, I joined White Marble.

What’s your favourite hobby or pastime?

I’m more than a little obsessed with my dog, Kermit. He and I like nothing more than stomping through the fields or along the beach near my home in the east of Scotland, then curling up with the aforementioned cuppa (Kermit prefers water).

What’s a fun fact about you?

I once made it to the national ‘Junior Petunia’ final in Birmingham – turns out my interest in all things green started young.

What’s a pet peeve of yours?

Litter bugs, especially those who throw things out of car windows. There’s no excuse and no need.

What can’t you live without?

My hot water bottle. I’m a ‘Cold Tattie’, as we say in Scotland, so own one that gets tied around my waist from late September to early May.
